I love the inscription provided by the client for this barrel carving.
I want you to know at no time would I ever entertain the notion I am, on any level, as good as Michelangelo. I just humbly attempted to recreate his genius with this carving of the famous hands of Adam and God which Michelangelo painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
I recently carved this fireplace mantel for a very special client. It was created from an amazing piece of center core first growth yellow cedar that only Mother Nature could have produced.
A coat of poly was then applied to preserve and protect the wood as well as amplify the shadows.
The design was pulled from a variety of sources including my imagination as well as the best designer of all: Mother Nature ( again). Being around six feet long it was hard to get all of this in one picture so I added extra shots of the detail.
